Florence, MA – Locally owned Brew Practitioners, LLC announced today that the 2-annual Drink Pink Event will be held on October 28, 2017 at the brewery and taproom beginning at 1 PM. Brew Practitioners is located in Florence, Massachusetts, at 36 Main Street, across from Coopers Corner.

Drink Pink

The Drink Pink Event is a charitable event started by Brew Practitioners owner, Tanzania Cannon-Eckerle in honor of her late sister, Lisa Marie, and in support of the LIVESTRONG® program at the Hampshire Regional YMCA. It is an attempt to think about those who are affected by Cancer during this event with an emphasis on affection, and love and fun that makes for happy times. Which makes it a good thing that this year the Drink Pink event coincides with the Brew Practitioners Halloween Party. Come dressed up wearing Pink! All donations, and a portion of the proceeds from the Pink Beer will benefit the LIVESTRONG® Program at Hampshire Regional YMCA. This year all the donations will be matched by The Taproom a local Craft Beer Bar in Hadley, Ma.

LIVESTRONG®

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a physical activity and wellness program designed to support adults affected by cancer. This research-based program offers a safe and supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.  This YMCA funded and donor supported program uses cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises to ease participants back into fitness and help them reclaim and maintain a healthy lifestyle.   At the Hampshire Regional YMCA, participants meet two times per week for 90-minute sessions, guided by certified LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA trainers.  Participants and their household family members receive a complimentary, 3-month YMCA membership running concurrently with the program.

Lisa Marie

It is well known, that the “pink” is the color associated with Breast Cancer Awareness and October is the month dedicated to that cause. So, when Cannon-Eckerle finished the development of her “Pink” beer, her own trade secret, she got an idea. A wonderful idea. She would create an event in October to support those who are affected by cancer in honor of her sister Lisa Marie, who passed away from complications related to cancer.

On, October 21, 2014, Cannon-Eckerle’s older sister passed away from complications related to her long battle with cancer (Ewings Sarcoma). She was just 45 years old. October 21, is also Cannon-Eckerle’s birthday.

“It can be an incredibly sad day for those of us who love Lisa. I cannot have her back and I cannot disassociate her passing with my birthday, but I can try and disassociate the sadness with that particular day by doing something that will help other people in our community in her honor. She would have LOVED the LIVESTRONG® Program at the YMCA. In fact, she would have thrived in that program. Brew Practitioners is proud to support this program at the YMCA and Lisa Marie would be proud.”
