Massachusetts Audubon at Arcadia
- Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries
While walking along Arcadia's five miles of trails, look for signs of white-tailed deer, black bear, otter, beaver, and other interesting creatures. The sanctuary's forest, meadows, marsh, and wetlands are great places to explore at any time of year. Canoe along the river on a summer's night during a program, and you're likely to see an enchanting display of fireflies (check the sanctuary's program schedule to register for canoe programs).
Mass Audubon's Arcadia Nature Day Camp is what summer is all about - learning through exploration, hands-on/minds-on activities, and cooperative games all on our beautiful wildlife sanctuary and the various habitats it offers. Children are encouraged to explore, discover, and question the constantly changing world around them, to understand its workings, and marvel at its creations. Teamwork is stressed as highly as individual thoughts and opinions. Campers learn to grow as people, and merge with the natural world without upsetting its balance.
The Arcadia Nature Preschool was founded in 1976 on the premise that happy and rewarding early childhood experiences with nature form the foundation for the development of creative, caring and aware adults. Children enrolled at the Arcadia Nature Preschool are provided with a continuing and meaningful relationship with the natural world. Our goal is to foster the children's ability to work both independently and cooperatively, and to act in a caring and responsible way towards their environment, themselves, and others. Class size is limited to 18 children in each session.
