Sonalee Rashatwar (they/he) LCSW MEd is a superfat, queer, bisexual, non-binary, award-winning clinical social worker, sex therapist, grassroots organizer, and sought-after speaker who travels internationally. They create empowering, and introspective spaces and conversations, bringing a message of joy, inclusivity, healing, and solidarity that whispers to our change-making spirit and nourishes our vision for a more just future.

Based in Philly they are co-owner of Radical Therapy Center, specialized in treating sexual trauma, diet trauma, racial or immigrant trauma, and South Asian family abuse, while offering fat-positive sexual healthcare.

Popularly known as TheFatSexTherapist on Instagram, Sonalee’s notoriety first peaked when they were featured on Breitbart in March 2018 for naming thinness as a white supremacist beauty ideal. And they continue to draw the ire of white supremacists everywhere with controversial statements on intersectional fat liberation since then.

In their words, “how to fall in love with yourself: take cute pictures of yourself, abolish capitalism, maybe even some nude ones, set a timer and have fun, destroy diet culture, admire those cute pictures, challenge yourself to say 3 kind things about yourself, dismantle white supremacy, make a list of characteristics that make you a good friend to yourself, abolish prisons & ICE, join a fat positive support group, build fat community in your area, start a potluck, redistribute your wealth, demand reparations and native land return, be your own best friend, feed yourself like a lover, end ableism and fatphobia, ask for hugs and touch, masturbate, develop a pleasure practice, remind yourself you have inherent worth outside of your utility, touch your body with care, adorn and decorate your body as if it were a precious ornament bc it is, tell yourself you deserve good things, buy and eat foods you enjoy, listen to music that moves you, create art that makes you feel, remember all bodies are good bodies.”
