Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
Acclaimed classical and jazz guitarist Michael Sheridan returns to the Northampton Community Music Center with his new band on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 pm. Renowned for his unique arrangements of traditional folk dances from Europe and South America, Sheridan now explores his own compositions with a new quartet. Admission is by donation, $10 suggested. Proceeds to benefit the Northampton Community Music Center’s scholarship fund.
Pulling from every element of Sheridan’s diverse musical training this new show features an original sound he calls Samba Surf. Sheridan describes it as “influenced by Brazilian music and the guitarist Baden Powell with harmonies that are a mix of Django Reingardt and Dick Dale. It's very danceable music.” In addition to Sheridan on guitar, band members include: Ben Rosenblum on piano and accordion, Ben Rubens on bass, and Ben Zweig on percussion.
Currently residing in the New York area, Michael Sheridan released his first album, “Prelude,” in 2013, and has performed with such renowned artists as including Roland Dyens, Stephane Wrembel, Sebastian Felix, Joao Luiz and Kamlo Barre.
