Name: Banned Books Week: Snacks & Social Justice
Date: October 10, 2025
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

Join us for an evening of family activism in celebration of Banned Books Week! This legislative session, two Freedom to Read bills are being voted on by the MA House and Senate. Similar to the bills recently passed in Rhode Island and Delaware, these pieces of legislation will grant protections to libraries, bookstores, and creators who write and produce books. We are lucky to have these bills being co-sponsored by local legislators, so let them know how much we appreciate it. Let’s flood the offices with our support for the freedom to read!

On October 10, 5:30-7:30pm at High Five Books, come learn more about these amazing pieces of legislation, write postcards of support to our elected officials, and eat a bevy of tasty treats from bookseller Corrie’s social-justice themed cookbook, The Revolution Will Be Well Fed! Meet members of Authors Against Book Bans, an organization of book creators fighting for our freedom to read, plus staff members from the Massachusetts Center for the Book, who will be presenting on their work with the bills as well.

FREE! No registration necessary. C'mon by!
