Event Description:
To help keep our community connected during this time of great change and uncertainty, we the Chamber are partnering with Cascade Consulting and All Out Adventures to host a Zoom session for leaders of our area non-profits on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:30 AM. This is a time to connect and discuss best practices and resources for navigating the COVID-19 crisis. We are stronger as a connected community, so please join us.

Nonprofit Resources for Responding to COVID-19

Across our community we see individuals, companies, and organizations working hard to adapt to and respond to COVID-19. A shining light in these uncertain times is that our community is a model of generosity and caring. The United Way of Hampshire County is working to connect those willing and able to help with nonprofit organizations in need of extra support.

Many nonprofits are seeing a decline of their stable volunteer base. College students are returning home. Parents need to be home with kids. Older adults are staying home. All at a time that there is an increase in need.

The United Way of Hampshire County is launching a web tool linking community members with nonprofit organizations. The goal is one place where potential advocates, volunteers and donors can visit to find opportunities. The tool will list nonprofit organizations and links to websites. It will be searchable by location.

The United Way is inviting all nonprofit organizations in our area to submit information on how the community can help your organization during this outbreak. Use this link to access a basic submission form. It should take about 5 to 10 minutes to fill out.

Additionally, they are asking you to update your organization’s volunteer information, especially as it relates to your needs and COVID-19 protocol. Although this is still evolving, having one up-to-date place makes it easier for potential volunteers and donors. They will list/link safety guidelines (e.g., via Cooley Dickinson Hospital), but that is not a substitute for individual agency guidelines. See Northampton Survival Center for a good example.

For now the United Way is prioritizing programs who serve basic needs (e.g., food/shelter) but will continue to add agencies and information as needs evolve.

John Bidwell, the Executive Director of the United Way, will present at the Chamber's Nonprofit Video Roundtable on Tuesday. He'll be available then to answer any questions you may have about this tool. We hope that you will join us for this opportunity to connect with other non profit leaders in the Valley for collaboration and connection.
