Workshop: Excel Boot Camp
Presented by: Pioneer Training
Learn the basics of Excel, Microsoft’s powerful spreadsheet application. This four-part course uses hands-on exercises to guide new Excel users through the operations needed to create and manage worksheets.
You'll start by becoming familiar with the main Excel screen, including the Quick Access Toolbar, the Ribbon, the formula bar and the status bar. Next, you'll learn to create and edit formulas, as well as use some of Excel's built in functions, such as AutoSum. You’ll learn the best methods for entering data and selecting areas within a worksheet. You’ll learn how to format numbers and text, as well as how to avoid common formatting problems in Excel. You'll practice editing spreadsheets by inserting and deleting rows and columns, copying and pasting data with a variety of options, using AutoFill to repeat a series of dates, and using Flash Fill to repeat a data pattern down a column. You'll learn how to scale a spreadsheet for printing, how to change print settings, and how to add a header and footer. You'll learn to work with lists of data efficiently by using Excel's sorting and filtering options. You'll learn to use grouping to edit or format multiple spreadsheets at the same time, and you'll practice creating "3-D" formulas that span several sheets.
Time permitting, the class will also cover some intermediate Excel topics, such as using absolute addresses in formulas, using named ranges, as well as additional financial and logical functions.
Participants should bring their own laptops. Windows computers only.
Pre-registration is required; space is limited.
