about us

Grow Food Northampton strengthens the local food system and makes it available to everyone in our community. We own farmland and lease it at affordable rates to sustainable growers committed to local markets. We manage Tuesday Market, a vibrant downtown farmers' market that helps over 20 local farmers make a good living while providing matching of SNAP benefits to low-income shoppers. We fund and manage many food access programs helping those who normally can't afford local food to purchase it at a steep discount, or to obtain it at local soup kitchens and food pantries. We also manage a 265-plot organic community garden and provide low-income discounts and free compost to many of our 400+ gardeners. We educate residents about local food, gardening, and farming, most notably through free field trips to over 1,000 public school students whose farm experience is connected with curricula in classrooms and school gardens.
